Breaking news…Ready!

Delaying and dilly dallying is now over. It is a time for a clear decision, say sources.  There are clear indications that the central government would take a key decision that would decide the future of the state soon. Already ten days had elapsed after union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said the government would take a decision on Telangana in one month.

Though the Congress High Command leaders have been meeting Telangana leaders in this backdrop and listening to their views, they are keeping their fingers crossed on their own thinking. There is a unanimous view that whatever be the decision of the Congress party, it would have a strong bearing on its future.

Majority of Congress leaders have already made it clear that nothing short of Telangana state with Hyderabad city was acceptable to them. On the other hand, reports said that centre was thinking of a solution on the lines of the Ghoorkha Land style development council. However there are arguments that there could be change in the thinking of Sonia Gandhi, Chidambaram and other leaders. Though state leaders met central leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, they could not get any assurance from them. He is escaping by stating that he had conveyed their views to Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders of the party.

Now the Congress High Command started consulting union minister Bhansal who is from Chandigarh. It is learnt that they have asked him about his own experiences about Chandigarh being the common capital of Punjab and Haryana. With this, a mouthpiece of the TRS has published a banner story, stating that things were turning favourable to Telangana. But one senior MP admitted that Congress was looking for a decision that would benefit it and that the party was not interested in either Telangana or development of the state. He is citing party leadership not showing any interest in selecting an alternative for Kiran Kumar Reddy despite development in the state taking back seat as an example to the party’s attitude. As a decision now would be favourable to the TRS, doubts are being expressed that there must be a trick up Congress party’s sleeve to avoid that situation. But it is being said that Madam has the responsibility of giving the breaking news by January 26.
